This past Sunday was A Naked Lady Soiree and it was the biggest one yet!! There were over 20 women in the shop swapping their hearts out! We listened to Beyonce, had drinks and sweet little bites all while chatting the whole time. There were women of all shapes and ages sharing space and clothes and it was such a beautiful thing! My favorite item of the evening were dinosaur earrings made by Eleanor. You all know how much I love earrings! I will be contacting her about some special order dino earrings. (let me know if you are interested, I can pass on her info to you. She has really great prices.) I love meeting new friends at ANLS, it feels like a slumber party. I walk out at the end feeling abundant with not only clothing but with connections. Not everything at the swap gets taken, there are usually tons of clothes that are left behind. I bring all the clothes to a place in Oakland that helps women who have ptsd. When I dropped off the clothes they were so excited and grateful for everything. As we walked back and forth to the car to retrieve the bags it seemed to never end. So just know that ANLS is doing more than creating friendships and giving women the opportunity to keep their clothing out of landfills. We are continuing the good intentions and passing it forward to others. So thank you everyone who came out this past Sunday.
I appreciate you and thank you. Next swap is on March 16th 6-8pm!

What a great day!
I feel so blessed today because I was able to bring A Naked Lady Soirée to Independence High School in San Francisco. A Naked Lady Soiree is a body positive clothing swap that I host bi-monthly at the shop. I was invited to teach students in the fashion club about being body positive and have a clothing swap. I feel so lucky that I am able to teach youth about their bodies and how to love themselves no matter what shape they are. There was sparkling drinks and sweet treats because I believe we all have to pamper ourselves sometimes. The students supported one another and created safe space by being affirming, "put ups not put downs!". I told them the reasoning behind that is negative statements could put someone down and may create self hatred. There was one student that was kind of shy so another student helped them pick items to make sure no one walked away empty handed. Some of the students were all curious how I started my own business so there was even time for a short Q & A. I am so thankful to Miss Jackie for inviting me to fashion club. Mark your calendars ladies!
A Naked Lady Soiree is happening on November 17th. Please share this with every lady you know. Check it out!
A Naked Lady Soiree is highlighted in the week's East Bay Express!!! Check out the full listing here! There is still plenty time to RSVP for the event tomorrow so please tell all your lady friends! See you and your things tomorrow ;0) I've been hosting clothing swaps at the shop every month and they have been SOOO much fun! I have met some really great women and love the social aspect of it. The event is about women, positive affirmations and CLOTHES! ( We have yummy snacks too! ) I have been scoring big time and have so many new items. I hit the jackpot at this last clothing swap and wanted to share some of my new pieces. These two pieces are another outfit already! This is my first outfit I put together from my scores at the clothing swap. The dress is from my closet but the bow and vest are from the swap. The bow is one of those headband ties and I thought to use it as a bowtie. The vest is an old school Avon brand, I fell in love immediately!!! I love this outfit. I felt so cute yesterday when I wore it! I laid the bracelet sideways so you could see what I am planning for it. I want to add a chain on both sides to make it into a necklace. I'm excited about this project! I gave away my flat iron because I never used it but the other day I wanted to flat iron my bangs and had NOTHING. So I wished for one and TADA! It is a cute mini one that will be perfect. It is interesting to see what people give away and how it becomes your new favorite thing after it was their favorite thing. O, Universe!?! I am a sucker for basic cotton items like this. I am the queen of comfort! I don't have a picture of the dress underneath because I put it on immediately at the swap, it was so comfy. It is a V-neck basic cotton dress.
YAY CLOTHING SWAPS!!! A Naked Lady Soiree at Halmoni starts off like this... Everyone brings a bag and dumps them into piles. After looking around to see what everyone has brought...shoes, bags, dresses, earrings, anything really...you keep what you want! In my pile are some new things and a few items I had in my give away bag. I ended up keeping them because I tried them on in front of the ladies. It was nice to bounce fashion ideas off others. It was nice to meet new lady friends...they all agreed that I should keep the jacket and scarf I was about to toss away. Here is my new hat I wore it today to work. I've actually be inseparable from this hat...I love it! Today I'm also sporting a brown belt I scored at the clothing swap. I'm excited to share the new treasure I got...stay tuned.
Life is so unreal right now. I wanted to share this new video of me and my shop made by Taylor Mosley of Spectra SF. I tried watching the video on my phone while at work but the connection is so wishy washy. So when I got home for the day it all hit me. I cued up the video, to watch it, yet again because it is so unbelievable... I am so proud because I never thought this would be me. Thank the goddess for editing because I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nervous! I got all insecure and kept second guessing myself, I kept saying,"Is this ok?" but then I started acting normal...or like my real self again. It's so weird I thought I needed to be a certain way...I wanted it to be perfect...Virgo tendencies. I finally relaxed and realized I was in safe company and forgot the camera was there. My favorite part is when I'm clapping for the model, Ingrid when she did a spin...lol! I am so thankful and it is a great addition to the video my boo did! They are so different and I just enjoy the different point-of-views of both directors! ;) Enjoy!
Here is a link to the video...trying to figure out how to post it here. :) http://vimeo.com/32930998 |
