We had such a great event this past Friday at Halmoni!!! We had the pleasure of hosting Virgie Tovar, writer, fat-activist and sexologist. She not only did a reading from her book Hot & Heavy: Fat Fierce Girls on Life, Love and Fashion but also had a fat girl pop-up shop from her show-stopping wardrobe. This is what The Daily Californian had to say about the event!! Stay tuned for more pics from the event!!!

Can tell that I am obsessed with bathing suits?? I wanna be on a hot beach with crystal blue warm water, getting bronze in the sun. I shared H&M's summer line for curvy girls recently (Summer, Summer, Summertime!) and here I am again mesmerized by theses bathing suits designed by GABIFRESH.
Gabi has collaborated with Swimsuits for All and she has created the most lovely suits for ladies with curves and I want one of every design. I appreciate how Gabi has shared a blog post going over the fit of suits so that ladies can adjust accordingly. Which one is your favorite? I love vintage and not just clothing. I also love vintage cars! I want to be a Volkswagen owner because they were well made and super cute!!! Besides having a love for the classic Volkswagen Beetle I love love love their Vanagon camper. I'm all about some camping but sometimes I want to camp luxuriously...not like Trump Hotel luxurious...just more comfortable. I think RV-ing is cool but it seems stressful hauling that big ass vehicle. The Vanagon is like an RV and a car had a baby!!! Imagine having most of your camping supplies built into the car already!!! You wouldn't need to borrow tents, stoves or coolers anymore! One day I will own one of these beauties! I stumbled upon this video the other day when I was browsing pictures for my Camping Trip Wishlist post and I wanted to share it because I think it's really rad!!! Ok, ok...I know Barbie is problematic but let's just appreciate the radness of old toys and commercials. Enjoy! Today is Tuesday and the song "What's up" by 4 Non Blondes has been replaying in my head all weekend. I went out with a group friends to a karaoke bar and had a blast!!!! I know karaoke is not everyone's cup of tea and usually it is not mine but once you start you can't stop. I have been humming non-stop and thought I would share it with you. ps. could only find this video that had lyrics...not the official :0l pps. 90's fashion was so rad! Flannel shirt everything, goggles, hoop nose rings and stomp your face, Dr. Martens!!!! Enjoy!!! The Scroogin sisters formed ESG, which stands for Emerald, Sapphire and Gold in 1978. They were way before their time and nowadays musicians are sampling their baselines and beats because they were sooo dope in the late 70's and early 80's! Their mother bought them instruments so that her teenage daughters would stay out of trouble while she was at work. Did I mention they are self taugh?? I love to discover folks who represent where they are from and ESG so happens to be from the Boogiedown Bronx just like me! I was introduced to ESG from a music obsessed friend and am glad they are part of my music library along with being one of my all time favorites. Here is a link to an interview with one of the Scroogin sisters, Renee from ESG on Sfstation. Enjoy the video below of one of their performances! ESG makes me want to DANCE, DANCE, DANCE! Let me know what you think! I am already obsessed with Korean dramas and on top of that I have a guilty pleasure for reality TV shows. I recently discovered the best of both worlds like a Korean drama had a baby with reality TV. I have found KTOWN!!! If you didn't know...now you know! Ktown is a YouTube reality TV show that takes place in LA's Koreatown. The cast of K-Town includes:
I hope you heart it as hard as I do! Here is a link to their blogspot. http://ktownlosangeles.blogspot.com/ Check out the first episode below! I worked in a music shop when I was 16 and that's where I discovered Etta James. I fell in love with her voice immediately. I bought anything I could get my hand on. I was obsessed. I bought books on her life, I wrote papers on her in school, I even dressed up as Etta for Halloween one year. I was sad when she passed. Here is a live performance I wanted to share. Enjoy! |
